Before the session begins the coach or leader with brief you on the session and roughly point out the route for you. Please listen carefully to them and remember that they are in charge for your safety. We encourage you to wear a 'tag' with emergency contact details on your trainers just in case you take a tumble.
Training takes place from Newton Abbot Recreational Trust, Newton Abbot (TQ12 2AR) on Monday and Wednesday evenings at 7.00pm sharp.
Couch to 5K Group
These 12 week courses take place three times a year and are designed for complete beginners or runners coming back from a long term injury.
The start dates for 2024 are;
Monday 15th January
Monday 20th May
Monday 16th September
4-5 mile 'Improvers'
A nice step up for those who want to move up from the Couch to 5K. At a pace of 12:00 to 13:00 min/mile with rest breaks this is a nice social run with lots of chatting.
5-6 mile 'Social Run'
A social run, with plenty of regrouping. Great for those wishing to step up from the 'Improvers Group'. Also suitable for faster runners, who want a nice social run and intend to run at the 'speed of talk' Pace will be 10:00 to 12:00 min/mile.
6-7 mile 'B' Group
Steady continual run, at 8:30 to 10:00 min/mile pace, with plenty of dynamic 'looping back' regrouping. Route up to the coach/leader.
7-8 Mile 'A' Group
A brisker continual run with plenty of dynamic looping back and regrouping. Route up to the coach/leader. Pace will be 7:45 to 8:30 min/miles.
Ten Mile Run Group
Currently not taking place
A 10 mile run at 6:30 to 8:00 min/mile pace, with the route up to the coach/leader. Please check with leader the expected pace of that run at the introduction.
