In breezy conditions local runners carried on regardless (unlike the Torbay Half cancellation) staying rain free at the undulating Honiton Hippo. The long established race by Honiton RC follows a varied course including woods, trails, fields, off road driving course, lanes, and a river crossing. Compared to the busload of trotters participating in recent years, just three took the hilly challenge.
Alex Sparks set off in a hurry and never looked back, comfortably taking 1st place with nothing slowing him down. Roger Easterbrook took 2nd, benefitting from a SWRR overdoing it chasing Alex in the 1st mile. There were a few wrong turns, some mud, and slips to manage around the route. Chloe Olford took 1st lady narrowly from Lizzy Dyson. A great event, super cake, worth returning for next year. Results not available currently
Meanwhile Chris Andrews took part in the Nottingham half marathon, the 42nd year of the run and very well organized over 10500 taking part. Whilst disappointed with 2.02 and not under 2 hours Chris was pleased he had a run out this weekend.
All eyes turn to the Templar Ten this Sunday, good weather predicted for another great event.
