One of two rescheduled races this weekend was the Budleigh Blister by Exmouth Harriers. The new route from the cricket club was 10 miles of trail including parts of the coastal path, A tough first half of the race along the coast uphill then mostly down there after and surprisingly dry underneath. Andy Gillson said "The course is a good mix of coast path and estuary with some farm tracks chucked in. One short hill that most had to walk but the rest was really enjoyable. With 5 or 6 gates, a good trail run for those looking for something not too hilly or technical. Overcoming the effects of a virus, he was pleased with a decent race and finishing strong behind the fleet footed and on form Liz Nuttall.

Racing like Chloe & Steve Weeks for the 3rd weekend in a row, Liz won the race as 1st lady, and received a nutritious box of veg for her efforts. Perfect for getting ready for her next race soon, maybe with a veg soup, kale smoothie or something else.

Results; Elizabeth Nuttall first Trotter home, 1st female, + 1st F45, 01:14:04. 17th, Andy Gillson 01:17:10. 30th, Derek Skinner 01:28:14. 72th, Joanna Randall 3rd FV35 01:31:06. 82nd, and Sue Tremlett 01:54:30.162nd from 181 finishers. Well done Jo with an age graded prize.

Chloe reported from the postponed event from December, Race the Light, on Saturday. In the half marathon event, Jake Gluyas-Harris delivered an incredible performance, finishing 3rd overall with a brilliant time of 1 hour 39 minutes. Well done Jake, followed by Greg Cook putting in a strong race, in 1 hour 52 coming 13th.

Steve Weeks and I, Chloe Weeks, competed the classic 8.5-mile race, fresh off the Oh My Obelisk half marathon last weekend. A misdirection on the course led the front pack off track, adding extra distance and requiring us to double back. Despite running 10.2 miles instead of 8.5, I managed to gain my way back to 3rd female overall, hurrah. Dad and I ran together and crossed the finish line in 1 hour 26 minutes. Dad came 15th and 2nd MV50, (more age graded success) and I came 16th. It was a challenging but rewarding day on the trails! There were sea crossings, mud, and plenty of elevation.

On Saturday night at Haldon Forest, Laura Law took part in the 5k night run achieving 5th lady and a brilliant 1st senior female. Laura was delighted with winning a prize, with daughter Bronte taking part and completing the Kids 2km fun run.
