The Trotters arrived in force to race the annual Bideford Half Marathon in good conditions, cool to start with but warmer during the race.

For once it was no rain and no wind for the field as 37 magnificently completed the mostly flat course.

Hamish Rae led the club home in a fleet footed 1.14.52 and Maggie Bishop was the final Trotter to successfully cross in 2.38.32 with a total of 955 runners making the line.

Darin Dodd said "I ran my first race as a Teignbridge Trotter and the first as a member of any running club. I PB’d with 1:39:36 by 5 mins and 30 seconds which I’m very pleased with.

I was expertly paced on the initial hills by Nigel and Tim. Many thanks to the coaches and other club members for their support over the recent training sessions which I’m sure have made a big difference"

The highlights of the well organised race include amazing Alan Kember winning V65 age category in 1.35.23, brilliant Bob Small, second in V75 1.54.07, a new V75 club record breaking his own record of 1.55.45. Nonetheless Bob was unhappy - hamstring problems inhibiting him.

Also taking place was the Canal Canter from Tiverton, following the flat tow path out and back to Sampford Peverell.

A drizzly warm start for all the races on Sunday with the rain stopping and the sun poking its head through the clouds later whilst wet under foot with lots of puddles.

Great effort by new Trotter in his first race Chris Macload achieving 3rd male in the 10K, after setbacks through injury in the last few months.

Derek managed No.85 marathon including 1st V60, and pleased with it being flat for a change. Eleanor Taylor was the kind hearted race sweeper
