On a weekend of mixed weather, Trotters were in action everywhere. James Saunders traveled to Oxfordshire to run the supposedly quick Abingdon Marathon. Persevering despite gales, showers, inconsistent surfaces and unhelpful turns James powered through in a splendid 03:01:27 winning 2nd MV60. 168th out of 991 finishers. Whilst not the sub 3 hour he was hoping for, a brilliant performance. A highly recommended event with great marshalls
Michelle Doherty and Lucy Evans took on the undulating Eden half marathon, Michelle reported "When i joined Trotters back in the summer, I was training to complete my first half marathon, which should have been Torbay at the end of September. Unfortunately, we all know how that ended and as I still wanted to complete a Half, I signed up to run the (very hilly) Eden Project Half Marathon and am thrilled that I completed it today in 2:22, Lucy 2:38. The weather was atrocious first thing but thankfully, the rain stopped shortly after the starting gun so conditions soon improved. The off road section was MUDDY and at one point, I very nearly lost a trainer to a bogmonster but kept on smiling throughout. There were 992 finishers.
A huge shout out to Lucy Evans who also ran despite only recovering from illness in the last couple of days....superwoman.
Kim Knight reported from Yorkshire "Me and my gang ran the Yorkshire 10 mile this weekend. Duncan ran the marathon and managed his Pb (3.28 ). I managed 1.26 for the 10 miler ( delighted ) and both our kids ran it too, Ben pulled it out of the bag with a hot 1 hour 4 and our daughter ran her first race and also did a fab time of 1 hour 33.5
In very pleasant and warm 25c Palma, Stephanie Ross ran the 9k, in 55:32, In the Half M Nicky Swann ran 2:35:34 and Susanne Westgate ran 2:25:49 in the Half M, having a great time away from the UK autumnal weather.
The latest round of the Club Champ's took place in warm, windy, conditions for a half marathon staged near Exmouth on the cycle path by Running Events Devon. The initial rain stopped for the runners who had a multi lap course to complete for 13.4 miles. The feedback has been....well some what limited, so hopefully everyone enjoyed themselves.
First Trotter home was Ian Langler, with Elizabeth Nuttall leading the sizeable ladies contingent. Also taking place were other distances including Ultra, Marathon, and Vicky Hales completed the Challenge distance of 6.55 miles in 1:21:44.
Two races are left in the Championship, a marathon, and the much shorter 4 mile pursuit race, the John Scott Trophy.
