Age group victories, team triumph and second place overall, made it a fine haul for the Trotters at the Feighan Fury 10 mile event near Tiverton on Sunday.
Overnight rain made conditions little sticky for the multi-terrain race, but it didn’t deter the group of eleven. It was the type of race that suits Roger Easterbrook loves and he produced another excellent performance to place second overall in 1:12:21.
There was age group glory for Helen Anthony and Keith Anderson who took out the W40 and M70 titles in 1:30:05 and 2:00:07 respectively. Helen was 46th overall with Keith 148th. Helen was ably supported by Mandy Wheeler (1:34:11, 61st overall), Jacki Woon (1:38:28, 79th) and Debbie Elphick (1:47:02, 111th) to win the ladies team prize.
The other finisher were Duncan Knight (1:29:32, 44th), Christian Robinson (1:31:11, 49th), Ian Langler (1:37:22, 76th), Gavin Parrott (1:40:09, 93rd) and Rod Payne (2:17:59, 179th). There were 213 finishers.
Meanwhile, the day prior, the Total Coastal events saw point to point races over 10k, half marathon and 50k along the south west coast path. Tim Synge, Mark Wotton and Susanne Westgate took on the 10k and were 15th, 25th and 28th in 1:42:23, 1:47:05 and 1:48:22 respectively. Sharon Still and Darren Petch ran the half marathon and placed in 3:54:08 and 4:48:54 to place 76th and 93rd. Wendy Goldthorp took on the biggest beast of all, finishing the 50k event in 7:43:16 to finish 42nd.
