Easter Bank Holiday Monday was the traditional day for the running of The Easter Bunny 10K & fun run which took place near RNAS Yeovilton and was organised by Yeovil Town RC. Four Teignbridge Trotters travelled up the A303 to Somerset for this very popular race.

The race route took the runners around the Somerset villages of West Camel & Podimore. Traditionally, a fast, flat course with a couple of bumps, ideal for that long awaited personal best!!

The runners were faced with a strong wind but the expected showers didn’t materialize fortunately.

Ewan Walton headed the Club quartet home, clocking a rapid time of 00:38:50 which placed him 18th overall.

It was great to see Kevin Besford in the Clubs colours after a long time out with health issues. Kevin ran a superb comeback race, posting a time of 00:58:02 to finish in 118th place.

Sarah Blanchard also ran a very promising race, crossing the finish line in 00:58:27 for 121st position. Zilpah Walton gave her all to finish in 168th spot whilst clocking a time of 01:19:1.3

Seventeen Teignbridge Trotters travelled the short journey to Exeter on Good Friday to compete in the Fast Friday 10K organised by City Runs. Points were also at stake as this was the 7th round of the Club Championship.

The race route took the runners around the paths around Exeter Quay and the River Exe. A technical 2 lap course with tight bends, sharp ramps and cambered bridges to cross making for a true test.

Weather conditions at start time were on the nippy side, sunny with a light breeze.

James Saunders was first Trotter home, finishing in 42nd place, clocking a time of 00:39:16. With the London Marathon in two weeks’ time this was a good test of speed and endurance. James won the MV60 age category and also broke the course record for this age group.

Second home was the ever improving Duncan Knight. He posted a great time of 00:43:09 for 89th place.

First female Trotter was Mandy Wheeler. She is also in training for the Newport Marathon next week, so this proved to be a great confidence booster. Mandy clocked a time of 00:43:50 to finish in 97th position which earned her 2nd place in the FV50 category. Her time was only 8 seconds outside the Club record held by Jacki Woon.

There were also notable performances by Bob Small, Jacki Woon, Paul Sharples and Rod Payne. Bob won the MV75 age category and remains unbeaten since turning 75. Jacki and Paul were 2nd in their respective age categories and Rod was 3rd in the MV65 category.

Here are the other Trotters positions and times: Jacki Woon (108, 00:44:35), Debbie Elphick (128, 00:46:28), Paul Sharples (168, 00:51:19), Patricia Atkins (175, 00:52:07), Neil Rutley (183, 00:53:55), Chris Andrews (193, 00:54:51), Sharon Sharples (194, 00:54:51), Eamon Crowe (204, 00:55:20), Rod Payne (208, 00:56:19), Bob Small (211, 00:56:51), Keith Anderson (212, 00:57:26), Eleanor Taylor (217, 00:58:30), Mark Wotton (236, 01:02:28), Claire Farrar (256, 01:16:04).

Jim Cole representing Tavistock Run Project won the race in a rapid time of 00:32:08.

The race was superbly organised with a cream egg for every finisher.

Ruth Johnson, Mark Wotton and Kim Bindon took part in the Hanham Horror on Easter Sunday. A 9K multi terrain race was organised by Bitton Road Runners who are based in the east of Bristol.

The undulating race route included woodland tracks, along tow paths by the River Avon, up 100 steps and a steep rope climb to the finish. Of course there were stretches of mud to endure!

Ruth Johnson is at home on the trails and proved that with a polished performance at this very popular and well organised event. Ruth clocked a very respectable time of 01:00:43 to finish 105th. It was great to see Kim Bindon in the Club colours once again. Kim crossed the finish line in 124th place in a time of 01:03:21. Mark just can’t resist a race having competed the previous day in Exeter. He is at home on the trails and ran well here, finishing in 163rd spot in a time of 01:09:50.

This very popular race was superbly marshalled with a well-stocked cake stall to support two charities.
