On August 21st the 50th running of the Asics Falmouth road race took in Massachusetts, USA. Tilly Woods, unsurprisingly, was the sole Teignbridge Trotter representative!

On a blistering hot day, Tilly ran superbly covering the 10K in a superb time of 00:51:21. She finished in 8th place in her age category out of 488 entrants. Tilly finished in 450th place out of 8,619 finishers.

On Bank holiday Monday a large contingent of Trotters turned out for a Club Championship race at Lustleigh. The 10k race was a tough, demanding course for all the runners. The weather conditions were very hot, and a midday start mean’t the hottest part of the day!!

The event was organised superbly and the marshals were very supportive all around the course. The course took the runners over hilly lanes, down muddy tracks, through beautiful woodland, along the river Bovey before spitting you out into the village of Lustleigh and back to the show ground field to be cheered to the finish line by a horde of supporters.

First Trotter home was Roger Easterbrook who is in a rich vein of form. Roger finished in 5th place in a fantastic time of 00:41:08. Rogers’s performance also placed him 2nd in the MV40-49 age category.

Chasing him home in 6th place was the ever improving Hamish Rea. Hamish clocked a superb time of 00:41:29 on a very challenging course.

A special mention for Andy Paisey who ran magnificently on his Trotters debut to finish 21st in a great time of 00:47:23. One to watch!!

First female finisher was our own Susanna Goffe, which is even more remarkable considering she is in hard training for the London Marathon. Susanna posted a rapid time of 00:48:55 to finish in 27th spot.

Julian Scanes won the MV50-59 age category prize having clocked a great time of 00:44:23 to finish in 12th place.
