Andy Distin completed his first half marathon in three years at Great West Run, whilst team-mate Jason Trevenen took a big stride in the right direction after some injury worries at the same sun-drenched Exeter event.
Distin clocked 2:38:55 for 1694th overall. Trevenen was pleased with 1:39:36, solid progression from a 1:47:36 in Taunton two months ago after suffering a winter with arthritis. He placed 195th overall among 1824 finishers.
Over in Dorset, another dynamic duo were in action at the Bosun 6.3 mile fell race at Seatown. A new event on the calendar, runners enjoyed glorious weather and stunning scenery on the Jurassic Coast.
And with 1850ft of climbing, it was a significant task for Derek Skinner and Mark Wootton. Derek was first Trotter home in 1:17:42 to place 27th overall, whilst ‘Wurzel’ 1:43:04 to place 52nd. There were 56 finishers in total.
A day earlier on Saturday 21 May, Susanne Westgate flew the Trotter flag solo at the Race The Tide event in Mothecombe. From three distance options, she took on the 8.5mile Woodland Trail race and placed a very credible 73rd in 1:41:10. There were 124 finishers in total.
