On Sunday 31^st October, The Tavy 7, took place on Dartmoor. This is a very popular event for local runners as well as visitors to the region. Alongside the seven miler was a 1.5 mile fun race for the children. The whole event proved to be a great family day out, with the added bonus of great weather conditions for this time of the year.

This was the third different course since the race was started back in the late 1980’s! Now run on Dartmoor, the route is an undulating but a fantastically scenic one. The race started at Plaster Down, on the western edge of Dartmoor, before the runners ran past Pew Tor and the small hamlet of Sampford Spiney.

Tavistock AC, the host Club, were proud to announce that the Ross Shield, Devon’s oldest running Championship, would also be competed for.

15 Teignbridge Trotters competed in the latest round of the Club Championship. Gary Smart ran superbly to finish in 10^th place, clocking a time of 00:42:56. Gary also won the MV55 age category prize. Roger Easterbrook was ahead of Gary approaching the last 100 yards but was out smarted by Gary!! Therefore, Roger finished in 11^th place, posting another impressive time of 00:42:57, which won him the MV45 age category.

Bob Small produced another impressive performance to claim 2nd place in the MV70 age category. Bob finished in 133^rd position, clocking a great time of 00:56:41.

Clare Youngman continued her great form whilst finishing first female Trotter. Clare finished in 116^th spot, clocking a rapid time of 00:55:52.

The winner of the Tavy 7 was Jacob Landers, representing the Tamar Trotters. His winning time was 00:37:45.

Winding Paths presented their latest event, The Grand Canal Canter Half & Marathon on Sunday October 31^st. The races started at the Tiverton Canal Basin and headed to Sampford Peverell with the route being run 100% on the Grand Western Canal tow path. The total elevation for the marathon was 180 feet.

Weather conditions were perfect with a warm autumn sunshine to highlight the stunning scenery along the canal.

Roger Hayes produced another very consistent performance in the marathon. Roger finished in 2^nd place while clocking a time of 03:37:18.
