Kurt Read travelled to the cosmopolitan capital of Spain’s Catalonia region, Barcelona, to compete in the Marathon on Sunday 7^th November 2021.

A fast, flat circular course that was lined with very enthusiastic supporters. The runners passed famous land marks such as Camp Nou, home of Barcelona FC, Gaudi’s magnificent La Pedrera and his cathedral masterpiece Sagrada Famillia, as well as the Hospital de la Santa Creu I Sant Pau, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The start and finish was located below the green hills of Montjuic Park in front of the Magic Fountain. Although very chilly to start, the Autumn sunshine soon warmed up proceedings.

Kurt ran a well-paced race, clocking a time of 03:47:25 to finish 3949^th.
