A large team of Trotters took part in the Torbay 10K, that took place on the evening of Sunday 20th August. There were first time races as a Trotter, a club record broken, course records, and PBs.
When the gun went off, conditions were quite cool with some misty rain in the air, but there was hardly any wind which meant running conditions were pretty good. The course takes runners from Torquay to Paignton, with two laps around the green, before the runners go back towards Torquay for the finish.
Roger Easterbrook finished in ninth position in a fabulous time of 37:32. Roger first took part in this race as an 11 year old back in 1985, when conditions were very windy and it was hailing, finishing it in 43:00. Sunday’s race was his highest placing at this event, plus he won the V40 age category.
Jacki Woon broke her own V50 Club Record, by knocking about 40 seconds off with a great time 44:24, and first V50 at the event in what was a course PB for her. Tracy Elphick also picked up a prize, claiming first F45. Gary Watson ran well also, to claim second V60, as did Lucy Payne to win third F65.
There were also some team prizes with Tracy, Jacki and Hannah combining to win the first female team prize, with Roger, Christian and Graydon winning third men’s team prize.
New Trotter, AJ de Montjoie managed a 10K PB at this event, and was proud to wear Trotters colours for the first time. AJ came to the Trotters after running the club’s recent Totnes 10K and is really pleased to have joined the club..
Additionally, there were PBs for Laura Law, Christian Robinson and Hannah Jones (3rd F40), plus course PBs for Pete Hayward, Graydon Widdicombe, Tracy Elphick and Suzie Mills.
