16 Trotters take on the Bicton Blister

The ever popular Bicton Blister off-road race, put on by Exmouth Harriers, attracted sixteen Teignbridge Trotters in cold but dry conditions. 

The race, which is run over Woodbury Common, takes in open fields, rough forest tracks and a couple of stream crossings, and includes several inclines. First Trotter home, with a blistering finish, was Roger Easterbrook, placed 11th overall and second MV40 with a time of 1:06:00. Following Roger were Garry Smart, first MV50 (17, 1:08:15), Duncan Knight (69, 1:17:31), Craig Churchill (88, 1:20:05), Neil Rutley (145, 1:25:15), Kim Knight (177, 1:29:27), Kathryn Steemson (201, 1:31:00), Jo Randall (261, 1:38:04), Ruth Johnson (264, 1:38:15), Eamon Crowe (292, 1:41:15), Sue Tremlett (295, 1:41:26), Lucy Payne, first FV65 (303, 1:42:39), Graeme Baker, first MV75 (308, 1:43:28), Teresa Holmes (414, 2:04:30), Suzie Mills (420, 2:04:39) and Louise Stokes (436, 2:19:03). 

The Trotters men's team, Easterbrook, Smart, Knight and Rutley, came second in the team event. There were 439 finishers.

Trotter Oli Prouse was in Tenbury, Shropshire, running in the Nash and Boraston 10K Dash, a race set up to raise funds for the upkeep of local churches at Nash and Boraston. This was a fast course with four tasty hills and a sharp descent, according to Prouse, who being the only Trotter entry, was also first home in a time of 48:51, finishing 18th overall in a field of 69.

The penultimate Club Championship race in 2017 takes place on Sunday 3rd December. The John Scott Trophy is a 4-mile handicap race. It starts at 3pm just up from the Sandygate Inn, Kingsteignton. Please let John Caunter know if you intend to take part, ideally with a recent 10K or shorter distance time. He will then work out your handicap.
