Otterton Reindeer Run, an awards night plus a charity run/cycle event

On Saturday 3^rd December, several Trotters travelled for a festive, roughly 10k, off-road run with lots of seasonal fancy dress at the Otterton Reindeer Run.  The route has several stiff climbs from the start and some mud, before flattening out along the River Otter on the return to Otterton Village hall for mulled wine and mince pies. Runners were honoured this year, as Jo Pavey brought her children along for the 3k fun run.

Unfortunately, full results weren’t available at the time of writing, but Trotters who ran included Helen Anthony, Mandy Wheeler, Ruth Johnson, Emma Pearcy, Emily Levey, Tamsin Cook, Eleanor Taylor, Jim Donovan, Eamon Crowe, Sam Crowe and Keith Anderson. Helen's daughter, Kiera, did the fun run, whilst Helen herself was first lady, first vet lady and first Trotter home.

Results are: Helen Anthony (7, 40:22), Sam Crowe (43, 48:23), Mandy Wheeler (46, 47:17), Jim Donovan (60, 51:52), Eamon Crowe (78, 53:30), Keith Anderson (83, 54:29), Emily Levey (88, 55:18), Eleanor Taylor (128, 1:00:29), Ruth Johnson (129, 1:00:32), Tamsin Cook (142, 1:04:39) and there were 208 finishers.

On the Friday night, Helen Anthony attended the 2016 Teignbridge Sports Awards, where she was nominated in the “Senior Sportsperson of the Year” category. Helen was nominated by Chris Chappel, a swimming instructor at Dawlish Leisure Centre that she knows through triathlon and who is aware of her improvements in running over recent years.

There were a range of categories covering youngsters, teams, coaches, volunteers and general services to sport with the event being held at the Langstone Cliff Hotel, and hosted by Ben Moseley. Helen was awarded the runners up certificate in her category.

Derek Skinner, Kim Nichols and Kat Zaple took part in a charity event, in aid of THNN. They ran 1.5k and then cycled around the Paignton Velodrome, taking part in their Santa suits which were collected at the start. Conditions were cold and a bit windy, but the trio cycled back to Newton Abbot with their Santa suits on, which seemed to put smiles on the faces of the traffic they passed on the way.
