First Chance became fast chance for Trotters with personal goals and club records kicked into touch at South West Road Runners’ flat and PB-friendly 10k of the same name on Sunday 17 January.
Twenty-nine Trotters were among the 515 competitors in the First Chance 10K’s strong field, many of who were vying for a speedy time on the traffic-free route on paths around Exeter’s Riverside Park.
Helen Anthony grabbed another club record finishing in 37.40 (38th overall) to become the fastest lady at the 10k distance in the club’s long history – beating the 1996 record held by Steff Ross. Helen, running phenomenally, knocked one minute off her previous best. Who knows what else this inspirational ladies captain can do?
The current holder of the 10k time for a F60, Lucy Payne, trimmed 10 seconds off her own record set in 2012, clocking 53.15.
