22 Teignbridge Trotters took part in the Ivybridge 10K on Saturday 10th May, which is organised by Erme Valley Harriers.
In windy conditions, especially between around 6 to 8.5K where most had to battle to maintain their pace, Helen Anthony, Eyvoll Aston and Mandy Wheeler picked up the prize for the first ladies team. Additionally, these three ladies managed 2nd V35, 1st V40 and 2nd V40 respectively. Another prizewinner was Michael Eveleigh who was first V60.
Despite the windy conditions, a few people managed PBs including Keith Anderson, James Ayling, Helen Anthony and Mel Dunn. It was also Emily Levey’s first time out in Trotters colours.
651 people completed the event and full Trotter results are:
Daryl Milford (11, 37:04), Jamie Barnett (51, 41:02), Helen Anthony (53, 41:10), Craig Churchill (62, 41:39), Ian Langer (66, 41:49), Michael Eveleigh (69, 41:57), Mark Hutchins (73, 42:25), Eyvoll Aston (90, 43:10), Mandy Wheeler (97, 43:19), Melanie Dunn (101, 43:27), James Ayling (139, 44:51), Adrian Handley (151, 45:33), Neil Pallant (156, 45:53), Stuart Moulson (160, 45:59), Keith Anderson (161, 46:03), David Dunn (315, 51:34), Nigel Barnett (316, 51:35), Chris Rogers (372, 53:13), Sharon Hutchins (415, 55:08), Emily Levey (482, 57:22), Stephanie Duncalf (583, 1:04:20) and Rachel Barnett (584, 1:04:20).
Mark Wotton completed his 50th marathon on Sunday 11th May, which is a major milestone for him. Mark ran the Stroud Trail Marathon, which takes in towpaths and railway tracks, plus has great some views of the Cotswolds from some tough to climb hills. Official results weren’t published at the time of writing, but Mark completed the marathon in 5:25.
617 runners ran in the Bideford 10K and set out from Bideford by road to Instow. They returned on the Tarka Trail alongside the estuary where runners were buffeted by strong, gusting winds. Two Teignbridge Trotters completed the race: Peter Kirby 46.18 (3rd Male Vet65, 135th overall); Rachel Pallant 57.00 (392nd). This was Rachel’s first race back after a 7-month lay off due to injury.
On Monday 5th May, Neil Pallant completed in the Milton Keynes Marathon, which missed the cutoff for the previous report. In what were warm conditions the undulating course takes runners through various underpasses and roundabouts, with the course finishing in the MK Dons Stadium. Neil managed a time of 3:58:53.
