In cool running conditions, 39 Trotters took part in the Torbay Royal Regatta 10K on Sunday 24th August, organised by Torbay AC. After a short break from championship events, this race is again part of the club championship and was well attended by Trotters. Several people managed PBs including Helen Anthony who went under 40mins for the first time whilst claiming 4th lady overall, with a fabulous time of 39:31.
Other Trotters who managed PBs include Emma Pearcy who went under 50-mins for the first time, managing 49:26. Emma’s training recently has included more tempo work and also weight training, so the regime is obviously paying off. Pete Blakesley continues his great recent form with a PB at this distance with a time of 45:46, whilst Mel Dunn just snuck under 43mins with a new PB of 42:59. Heather James has been working hard to break the important 60-minute barrier and managed that with a time of 59:32. Kirsty Bowman also got a PB of 2mins40secs with a time of 50:04 and Dermot Smyth also PBd with 46:36.
Jacki Woon ran a great race to improve on her own club F50 record with 45:02 and claiming first lady in the category.
Also, a quick mention of our under 20 males who claimed two of the top 5 places in their age category. Jamie Barnett was second under 20 with a time of 39:56 (under 40-minutes for the second time in under a week) whilst Tom Besford was fifth under 20 with a time of 42:32.

Katrina Zaple ran in the Severn Bridge Half Marathon on Sunday 24th August. It was rather special as it was the first ever race and also the M48 and Severn Bridge were closed for the event! The race was sold out, with nerly 2000 runners completing the event.
The weather was ideal for running, cool and dry, ideal for the undulating course with one big hill thrown in for good measure halfway along the course. The route took runners across the bridge and out into country lanes through pretty villages with plenty of locals cheering them on.
Of 1976 finishers Kat came in at position 1132 in a time of 2:00:24 and 40th in her category of F45+. This is a result that Kat is over the moon with as she was running with a few injuries! Kat thoroughly enjoyed the race and commented that it was very well organised.
Craig Churchill also ran in the event and managed a time of 1:34:36.
