Steve Wallace took himself up to North Devon on Sunday27th January for the “Braunton 10”, which is a very tough and hilly course. There was a very strong head wind over the last 3 miles and of course the usual deep puddles after the heavy rain the night before. Steve enjoyed the run and picked up first vet 60 male and completed in 1.31.04 which was 1 minute 13 seconds up on last year. He was 134th out of 199 runners.
Mark Wotton travelled to South Wales to take part in the “Lliswerry 8 road race” which takes place in Newport. The race starts and finishes at the Nash School and was very well marshalled, taking a circular route through country lanes and local villages. The course is very flat although there was a couple of large puddles to run through. Out of the 618 finishers Mark was 309th in 1.02.22.
Last week at Mount Edgcumbe, Becky and Keith George took part in the "Devon v Cornwall 10 mile" race. Becky did 1.39.14 while Keith did 1.39.15, while Nicky Quant raced too in 2.01.03. 81 people finished the race.

This past weekend saw 4 Trotter men run the annual “Fulfords 5” race at Exmouth. It starts at the swimming pool and runs a fast two lap course past the sea front and into the town. The weather was perfect with a slight breeze behind the runners and the course attracted 218 runners.
David "Tommo" Tomlin kept at the front of the pack and finished in a superb 4th place with a personal best time of 26.44, scooping up the 1st vet 40 prize. Craig Churchill also bagged a PB with 69th in 33.05. New member Alexander Shearman ran a strong race in 33.18 and was 97th, while Stephen Wallace was 142nd in 40.38.
Over at Dawlish Leisure Centre, the Exeter Tri club held the first of their “Aquathlon series” which consists of a 600m swim and a 5km run. The weather was dry but cold but this didn’t deter nearly 100 people competing. Adam Caunter did a 8.24 min swim and 18.59 min run (total 27.53 minutes) and won his age category. Ian Wooley did a 8.58 min swim and 23.27min run |(total 32.25), while Sharon "Fizz" Bowman, competing in her first such event, did a 11.43 min swim and 23.42 min run (total 35.25 minutes ) and was 9th in her category.
