On Friday 30th August the evening sun shone down on the annual Dawlish Coasters race of “the Forest Flyer”. The course takes on the cycle paths and woodland walks of Haldon Forest and is about 5 miles long.It includes a couple of steep hills to keep the runners on their toes.131 people took part and enjoyed the evening warmth.
Daryl “Tarquin” Milford in good form was 3rd in the pack with 29.17 only just 5 seconds behind the 2nd place .Alan Boone was next trotter in 20th 33.41 while Bruce Campbell pushed hard to keep in front of Mark Hutchins and was 30th and 31st in 35.14 and 35.22.
Craig Churchill wasnt far behind Mark in (35.37)33rd, John Tweedie (37.26)46th, Wilfred Taylor (37.58)51st and John Grimes (38.29)57th.
Sarah Schutte having a great few races at the moment did 38.30 58th and brought the ladies home for the trotters ,Graydon Widdicombe (38.39)60th,Mark Becker (38.42)31st,Jim Donovan (38.49)63rd,jacki Woon (38.53)64th,pete Hayward (39.43)68th,Stuart Moulson(39.48)39th,Chris Wride(40.16)74th,Noel Fowler(41.25)79th,Tamsin Cook(42.32)82nd,David Dunn(42.46)85th,Ruth Johnson(43.58)88th,Rod Payne who beat his wife Lucy for once (45.04)96th,Lucy Payne (45.47)100th,Derek Blackford (46.43)102nd,Sharon Hutchins(46.43)103rd,Eleanor Taylor(46.56)105th,Joanna Becker(47.42)108th,Bev Dennis(47.48)110th,Steve Rawlinson(48.41)114th,Guy Roberts(53.18)124th,Selina Snow(54.59)125th and Heather Snow (54.59)129th.
Chris Rogers was lone trotter at the “Treggy 7” on Sunday and produced another PB for himself by completeing the fast but challenging 7 mile course starting in Launceston Town Centre and finishing in the picturesque grounds of Launceston Castle.The race is ran by Launceston Road runners and Chris did 59.31 and was 200th out of 349 finishers .
