Mud and hills and festive fun for trotters this weekend .......................

On a bright Saturday 7th December, three trotters ran the “Cockington Christmas Caper” in Cockington near Torquay. The multi terrain 7.25 mile race attracted 223 runners. It is run through scenic countryside with some solid hill and plenty of mud involves for the runners to earn their Christmas cake and mug at the end. The atmosphere was made festive with Christmas carols and money raised went to the Barnaby Sports Trust, a local charity to aid sports development in the community of South Devon.


Jon Grimes was 62nd in 1.07.06 with Tamsin Cook (175th) in 1.26.36 and Jess Whitehouse (195th) in 1.33.17.

Over in Otterton near Budleigh Salterton, the Sidmouth Road runners put on their annual “Otterton 10km Reindeer run” ran over a multi terrain course of hills and mud around the Otter Valley. The race encourages fancy dress and the 177 finishers are supplied with a mug and mulled wine and mince pie for their efforts.


Helen Anthony complete in mother Christmas outfit won 3rd lady in 44.43 (20th) while Keith Anderson (83rd) in 53.08 and Stephen Wallace did 59.40(112th.)
