More records tumble for Tommo at the Hoe ..........

Graham “Inky” Penn ran the `Carrick Cracker` 25k on Saturday 17th at Falmouth, which was a mainly off road event organized by the Falmouth Road Runners, that took in part of the SW Coastal Path. It was extremely muddy in many areas with deep puddles, but the weather was glorious with just a light breeze to cool runners down. He was the only Trotter amongst the 65 runners and finished in a time of 3hr`s 12.It was a self-navigating course .(thanks Inky for info)

On Sunday 17th February a team of Teignbridge trotters drove to Plymouth to take part in the annual “Plymouth Hoe 10” which started and finished at Brickfields athletic track. It is run in conjunction with Armada Athletics network which supports athletic clubs in Plymouth, West Devon and East Cornwall who work together for the benefit of athletics in the area .The course takes in the Hoe and is undulating and the wind had picked up quite a bit in places on the course.It also staged the finals of the “Devon vs Cornwall Peninsula challenge” in which Devon won the males and Female shields.

David "Tommo" Tomlin who seems invincible at the moment stormed in with a time of 56.20 giving him 1st vet 40 and also a new club record in that distance which he took from Roger Hayes (chairman) .This placed him 12th out of 556 finishers. Daryl”Tarquin”Milford ran a personal best at the distance of 58.34 and was 19th with Ewan Walton also getting a best time of 1.01.45 and 37th.The three men claimed second male team in the event.

Alan Boone crossed the line in 1.06.33 84th which gave him 2nd vet 55 while Michael Eveleigh was close on his heels with 88th place and 1.06.54 and he won 1st vet 60.

Other trotters achieved the following times –John Tweedie 1.08.25 99th, Mark Hutchins 1.09.26 117th, Travis Wood 1.10.16 127th, Alexander Shearman 1.11.42 142nd, Mark Becker 1.14.03 177th and Rob Cowling 1.14.29 183rd.

Jacki Woon brought the ladies home in 1.15.21 194th,one second slower than her record she gained there last year !She was 3rd vet 45.Then followed Adrain Handley 1.18.05 227th ,Ryan Anthony 1.20.37 265th ,Sharon “Fizz “Bowman 1.20.58 271st,Stephen Wallace 1.26.42 352nd,Sally Ingledew 1.28.09 368th ,Tina Caunter 1.29.09 381st and 3rd vet 55,Derek Blackford 1.29.35 386th ,Joanne Becker 1.30.15 (PB)394th,Ruth Johnson 1.30.44 (PB) 401st,Jo Billyard 1.31.50 (PB) 410th,Beverely Dennis 1.33.07(PB) 425th,Sharon Hutchins 1.33.27 (PB) 430th,Hayley Brown 1.35.33(PB) 454th,Catherine Barnes 1.36.50 463rd and Rachel Pallant completed in 1.38.07 and 480th and also had a personal best run. Unfortunately Kevin Besford had to pull out.

Lucy Payne travelled to Bramley near Basingstoke in Hampshire for the "Bramley 20 mile road race" organised by Reading Roadrunners on Sunday. The race is the first of a series of 20 mile races she has entered as a preamble to the London Marathon in April where she will be making her first appearance. The weather at the start was cold and foggy but as the sun broke through it became a perfect morning for running. The course meandered through picturesque country lanes and in a field of 780 finishers Lucy finished a very encouraging 620th in .3.09.35.(thanks Rod)
