You Trotters take a Weekend Off - Thanks say Press and Publicity!

Your Press and Publicity team are faced with the prospect of writing about nothing at all this week as it seems that all of the Teignbridge Trotter club took a weekend off.

The Deviock Bounder was in our Club Championship and scheduled to take place on Sunday but disappointingly the race has not gone ahead this year. This has caused Championship Secretary Tarquin to hastily rearrange the schedule.

There is fortunately some business hanging over from the previous week as with the number of races taking place last week we had no room to report the Exeter track 3k. So here it is………

On Monday 5 November 12 Teignbridge Trotters made the short trip to Exeter Arena for the latest round of the Ironbridge Runner Winter 3k Series.

In the ‘A’ Race Daryl ‘Tarquin’ Milford found himself in tough company as he ran a superb race and finished 6th in a field of 15 in a highly creditable time of 9.51.

In the ‘B’ Race there were 13 competitors. Of these, Travis Wood, who seems to be racing more frequently since his recent wedding, was 3rd in 11.24 and Craig ‘Pencil Neck’ Churchill propelled his lightweight frame to 7th in 11.33.

In the ‘D’ Race Geoff Davey led the field of 18 home in a time of 10.37. His time in golfing parlance would label him a bandit as he would have gained 2nd place if he had run in the ‘B’ race (the handicappers won’t let it happen twice Geoff). He was followed by John Tweedie who is still running some great races, finishing 2nd in 11.31 and weatherman Wilf Taylor was 5th in 11.51.

In the ‘E’ Race a number of Trotters were experiencing their first experience of track running. In a field of 15 Neil Pallant was 2nd in 12.43 but in the process suffered painful back spasms, the graceful style of Tamsin Cook gained her 8th in 14.00, Guy ‘Paddington’ Roberts was 11th in 14.33, ‘Lady’ Catherine Barnes regally finished 12th in 14.45, Eleanor Taylor was 13th in 14.52 and Jo Billyard, once a race-shy and retiring individual who is now prepared to take on all types of races was 14th in 15.18.
