On a humid Wednesday evening on the 16th August eleven trotters went to Dalwood village near Axminster in East Devon to run the “Dalwood Fayre 10K”. Placed within the Blackdown hills area it made for a very undulating course with a mixture of roads and fields and woodland tracks. On Friday 24th August up at Haldon Forest the Dawlish Coasters ran their annual “Forest Flyer” at 7pm. The weather had not been great during the day but it stayed dry for the event which had 118 finishers of which 31 were Trotters. Unfortunately this year the whole field ended up running a shortened version of the race which is usually 5 miles but became just under 4. Someone had pulled off one of the arrows and turned it around and tied it up with string that had been left on it from a previous race. It didn’t deter the runners who were unaware of the problem until they got to the final hill and on to the finish. Daryl Milford brought the Trotters home in 4th place and 23.15 with Adam Caunter in 11th with a time of 24.42.
