On Sunday 22nd January 5 trotters went to Gloucester to take part in the "Gloucester marathon" which runs along side the 50km ultra. The course comprises of a flat 4 miles around Quedgeley and Hardewicke followed by 3 undulating laps of just under 7 miles with 1 mile leg to finish at Rea Bridge, Quedgeley. It has a strict 5 hour cut off for the marathon while the ultra runners have to complete another lap. The course was a little windy in places but 374 competitors completed the marathon .Roger Hayes(chairman) ran a really strong race in 3.16.16 and came 39th.Roger Hales(smokes) did 3.27.22 and clocked 69th.The star of the day was Allen Taylor who managed to do a massive pb of 24 minutes to finish in 3.28.01 and 72nd.Phil Perry(latte) just missed the sub 4 hour mark in 4.02.00 and finished 218th.The lone trottettee and our own marathon queen, Sally Ingledew completed in 4.41.43 and 323rd.
I think we will be seeing a lot more of this intrepid quintet in future marathons this year. Please remember we can only do these articles with your information so please mail us or put something on the Face book page(Teignbridge trotters) so we can include it.Photos of the event are most welcome too.
