Totnes 10km raises money for Totnes Caring
The Annual Teignbridge Trotters “Totnes 10km” race at Totnes leisure centre took place on Sunday 7th August. The forecast rain had a couple of short showers but certainly didn’t dampen the sprits of the crowd and runners. It is a fund raiser for “Totnes caring” and this year the Teignbridge trotters will hand over £1000 to the charity.
With 544 runners entered and 494 completing the multi terrain course it made for a good crowd of supporters and including a “fun run” enticing 109 competitors ranging from babies being pushed in push chairs, toddlers on their parents shoulders and maybe the future runners of tomorrow all enjoying a traffic free 2 lap course of the playing field at Borough Park which saw prizes given out in that too. The main race went through the Dartington Estate grounds and included much rough ground and cycle paths with several fields to run through and traffic free.
Torbay AC had 26 runners in the race, the biggest club turnout and took the Male team prize. The Vet 35 record was broken by Jon Hamblyn from Walton on Thames AC in a time of 36.06 and he was the overall winner of the race. The Female Vet 60 record was also broken by Anne Lucas from Torbay AC in 59.07 and they both won £25 cash prize for doing so. Most of the Trotters marshalled and helped out at the race but 13 of them ran it.

On the Saturday evening 6th August saw Mark Wotton and Graham Penn partake in the “Cornwood 10km challenge”. It was a multi terrain course run around Cornwood and Lutton with inevitable hills but with a lovely long down hill section. Grahams dog “Kelso” also took part in the race and this was his 2nd 10km to date! Graham and Kelso did 57.47 with Mark in front of them.(Thanks for info Inky)
