The Torbay regatta 10km on Sunday 22nd August saw 18 Trotters line up for this annual race .It is run by The Torbay Athletic Club but unfortunately 10 minutes before the start the heavens opened making the course more like a river than a road race.
The route starts at The Pavillions in Torquay,runs straight past the Princess Theatre,Torre Abbey sands ,past Corbyn Head ,Hollacombe and into Preston and around Paignton Green twice ,to re trace your steps to finish at Corbyn Head in Torquay.
The race saw 586 runners complete it in atrocious conditions.
Leading the Trotters home through the torrential down pour was David Tomlin 36.15 and in 15th place(3rd vet 35) .Hot on his heels and obviously not being put off by the weather was Daryl Tarquin Milford putting in 36.41(PB) and finishing a splashing 19th.Close on his heels was Wavel Vigers 37.03 in 21st spot(3rd vet 40).
Other Trotters taking on the elements were Bruce Campbell 41.32,Mark Wotton 45.01,Tracey Elphick 45.48,Emma Sidebotham 45.49(2nd Vet 30),Craig Churchill 45.58(PB),Sarah Schutte 49.00,Sharon Bowman 49.18(3rd vet 40),Stephen Wallace 50.46,Sally Ingledew 51.32,Philip Perry 51.47,Mary Goulden 53.00,Kevin Bersford 53.04,Julie Crocker 55.13,Rebecca Weare 56.24 and Derek Blackford 57.24.The men where 2nd team home and the ladies 3rd team.
