Three Teignbridge Trotters were drawn to the wilds of Exmoor on Sunday for Tiverton Harriers 2nd Yeo Mill Yomp, at West Anstey. The tough 10.25 mile race, starting and finishing near the village hall, is run mainly off road. Numbers attending were unfortunately down on the 2009 figure of 121, possibly due to the high humidity.
Clare Youngman led the team home as 4th lady, 30th overall in a field of 84 finishers, with a time of 1:32:48. Club stalwarts Stephen Wallace and Steve Rawlinson finished in 1:47:17 and 1:53:34 respectively.
Meanwhile, veteran Marathon runner Sally Ingledew was performing in the grounds of Boddington Manor in Gloucestershire, at the Boddington Marathon. The scenic 12 lap course, organised by `Beyond the Limitations`, also attracted 2nd claim member Selina da Silva. Sally completed the race in a time of 4:19:48, with Selina crossing the line in 4:55:09.
On the previous Wednesday evening, lone Trotter Graham Penn was sampling the delights of the inaugural Tin Tin Ten 10k, at Tintinhull in Somerset. Organised by Chard Road Runners, the multi terrain course, actually 10.44k, is multi terrain and contains several long ascents. Graham finished 56th out of 114, in a time of 55:13. Thanks are due to the National Trust for allowing the use of Tintinhull House and grounds as Race HQ.
Results are now available for the Ruby Run Half Marathon, held in North Devon on Sunday 13th June. Six Trotters ran the course, which this year started at Holsworthy and finished in Hatherleigh; a reverse course from 2009.
