The Teignbridge Trotters played hosts to Brooks Westward League on Sunday (February 10), staging a successful Cross Country fixture at the Parke Estate in Bovey Tracey. Fine weather and smooth organisation combined to make the day a success for the 170 runners who took part.
As well as organising and marshalling the event, Teignbridge were able to field a competitive Men's team. First Trotter home was Dave Tomlin. His time of 36.00 gave him 8th place. Roger Hayes was next, in 38.04. Also running were: Dave Miller (38.12), Mike Hicks (38.45), Andrew Pepperell (41.26), Ewan Walton (42.44), Mark Becker (43.26), John Crocker (43.36), John Johnson (47.02), Bryan Hayes (47.31), Mark Wotton (48.03), Dave Dunn (48.13), Stewart Dunn (49.26), Geoff Davison (51.04) and Steve Rawlinson (52.58).
In the Ladies' event, Tracy Elphick finished in 22.31, Jeanette Howard clocked 26.48 and Eleanor Taylor crossed the line in 27.43.
Also on Sunday, nine female club members took some time away from the serious business of attending a hen party to compete in the Longleat 10K. The results, while not among the fastest performances these fine competitors are capable of, nevertheless proved that the Royal Blues have iron in their souls. Eyvoll AstonĀ (44.48) led them home, with Clare Youngman next (48.27). Also displaying true grit were: Sue Brown (49.04), Stephanie Ross (51.00), Tina Caunter (52.53), Jan Caunter (54.54), Stella Imong (57.29), Jo Becker (58.55) and Vicky Hales (66.33).
