Twenty-six Teignbridge Trotters made the short trip to Paignton on Sunday, to take part in the Torbay Half-Marathon, one of south Devon's biggest road races. The course follows the coast road between Paignton and Torquay, a journey participants make four times during the event.
The conditions were warm and blustery, with the wind blowing from Paignton towards Torquay. The runners were hot and sweaty on the two outward legs and running into the wind on the return legs.
Ian Langler led the Trotters home, crossing the line in 1:32:00, 80th out of 1215 finishers. John Tweedie was the next Royal Blue, clocking 1:34:07. He was hotly pursued by Andy Pepperell, who finished in 1:34:16. Angela Weeks finished in third place in the Female Over-60 category, with a time of 2:20:50. Stewart Dunn bagged a personal best performance, finishing in 1:36:38.
Special mention needs to be made of Marsha Garrard (2:04:01), Georgina Wallis (2:10:30), Matt Dunn (2:15:17) and Cindy Brookes (2:17:07), who were all running their first half-marathon on Sunday.
