As ever, there seems to be plenty to report on the racing front, with the Royal Blue in abundance at races near and far. Typical for the time of year, alot of this being off road taking advantage of the muddy conditions underfoot!
Starting with our very own Templer Ten, it was good to see Dave Tomlin up at the sharp end in a field of over 200 runners. Dave finishing 6th in 56.40. It was also a good day for Tracy Elphick, back on the racing scene after a recent injury. Tracy was 2nd in the F35 category with her time of 70.21. Other Trotters taking on the fast 9.5mile off-road event were Nigel Penwarden 70.12, Mark Wotton 75.35, Graham Penn 80.07, Ella Bowles 82.27, Paul Scholfield 85.14, Rod Payne 88.51 and Stephen Brooking 105.43
In the afternoon, it was then straight over to Bicton Arena for round 2 of the very competitive Westward League Cross Country. Leading the Trotters home in 41st place was Roger Hayes, he was followed in by Ronnie Jones 52nd, Andy Shakeshaft 65th, Mark Becker 72nd, John Tweedie 96th, John Caunter 102nd, Stewart Dunn 104th, Stewart Moulson 105th, Bryan Hayes 111th, Dave Dunn 112th & Matt Dunn 122nd
Continuing the off-road theme were Mark Wotton & Graham Penn who completed the six mile very off-road Sourton Scramble. No further details at present.
Well done to Vince Aggett who completed the New York Marathon in a very respectable 3.52.34
At the other end of the spectrum it was round two of the winter 3k track series at Exeter Arena. On a good night for track running some impressive times were returned. Not least Roger Hayes first Trotter home in 10.13. Other times were Ewan Walton 10.35, Mark Becker 11.02, Gary Caunter 11.21, John Tweedie 11.24, Gary Watson 11.27, John Caunter 12.26, Dave Dunn 12.50, Syd Willocks 13.26, Jo Becker 13.58 and Tina Caunter 14.06
