It was another busy weekend of racing for Teignbridge Trotters, with over 30 of them in action at the Dartmoor Vale series of races staged from the Racecourse in Kingsteignton. Now hosted by the Womans Running Network, the event stages a Marathon, Half Marathon & 10k.
The Marathon which includes the Devon County Championships attracted over 100 runners with some excellent performances by club members. Pick of these was Roger Hales who was 6th overall and 1st M45 in a personal best time of 3.06.14. Roger was followed in by Chris Cleave, 7th overall and 2nd M45 in 3.08.27. Not to be outdone in the F45 category was Stef Ross, who with her time of 4.08.54 was 1st in the category. Also completing the gruelling 26.2 miles were Ian Langler 3.28.19, Ewan Walton 3.34.16, Kevin Canham 3.36.52, Andrew Ludlam 3.43.30, Rich Keatley 4.14.22 & Steve Rawlinson 4.34.20.
Amongst 289 others who completed the Half Marathon course was Dave Tomlin who retained his recent good form to finish 7th overall in a sub 1.20 time of 1.19.46 Also finishing were John Skinner 1.33.36, Mark Hamling 1.36.45, Nigel Penwarden 1.38.50, Colin Cozens 1.39.39, Dave Dunn 1.47.49, Julia Proctor 1.48.24, Tina Caunter 1.53.40, Jimmy Donovan 1.55.06, Stephen Wallace 1.55.51, Charles Soudain 2.01.16 and Pauline Newsholme 2.46.15
The Club were also well represented in the 10k event with the pick being Stuart Moulson who recorded a pb time by one minute of 46.09. Bryan Hayes showed he still has what it takes by winning the M65 category in an impressive 45.15. Other Trotters running were Mark Becker, Dave Lickman, Nikki Kennard, Cathy Burgess, Helen O'Malley, James Henderson, Sharon Bowman, Ella Bowles, Georgina Wallis, Jo Becker, Kevin Besford, Sarah Ross, Cindy Brookes & Steve Blackburn.
Somewhat further afield at Twickers, London, Graeme Baker was parading the Royal Blue in the Cabbage Patch 10 miler. Graeme's impressive time of 76.55 saw him record his best 10 mile time for some 4 years and finish 594th from 2000 starters.
